Studies on the Putative Parent of Cultivated Chrysanthemum (5)

Abstract
Three species of Chrysanthemum; C.zawadskii, C. indicum which have been regarded as the putative parent of cultivated chrysanthemum, and allied plant C. lavandulaefolium grow wild in southern parts of Korea.
Interspecific crossings among these species were made and morphological characters of the F©û, F©ü plants were examinated.
1) F©ü individuals were greatly variable in their morphological characters.
2) F©ü plants same as parents and F©û plants were self-incompatibility, F©ü individuals crossing fertility was 0.1¡13.5 percent.
3) Putative parents and F©û plants were single ray flower, but some of F©ü plants were induced double and triple ray flower.
4) The examinated chromosome numbers of putative parents, F©û and F©ü plants were as follows.
C. zawadskii 2n=36
C. indicum 2n=20
C. lavandulaefolium 2n=16
C. in¡¿C.z. 2n=28
C. Z.¡¿C.in. 2n=28
C. z.¡¿C. lava. 2n=26
and greatly variable chromosome numbers were obtained in F©ü plants as 2n 20, 28, 36, 40, 2, 48 and 56, respectively.
